FO Friday 174

Hi everyone! Thank god it's Friday, right? It's been a crazy busy week for me and I'm ready to relax a little, despite having some work to do as well. At least I love my work. :)

I don't have a finished project to share this week unfortunately. I've been too busy to have enough knitting time to finish anything, but my project I shared Wednesday, the Rondelay shawlette, is going great and I hope to be finished by next Friday. I'll keep my fingers crossed but won't promise anything.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Work in Progress 187

Hi everyone! I hope all is well. So far this week has been much better than last so that's great news.

I have a new project to share, and I'm so excited because it's with Candy Skein April '14 colorway, Atomic Jelly Beans. I've had such a hard time keeping this colorway a secret because I love it so so much!

This is the Rondelay shawlette. I have to say, it's an insanely fun pattern, goes extremely fast and is perfect for all those crazy variegated skein you probably have in your stash like I do. As soon as my friend Regina mentioned this pattern, I knew right away it was perfect for Atomic Jelly Beans! Doesn't it just scream Spring?

If interested, you can purchase single skeins of Atomic Jelly Beans, or the 3 month pack for April-June at candyskein.com.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of your week!

FO Friday 173

Good morning everyone! Sorry this is late. I took the pictures yesterday and everything. I just got distracted and forgot to actually write the post!

It's been a hell of a week for me, not in a good way, so I'm happy to see it come to a close. I'm super excited about the April colorway that I will reveal soon, and am happily knitting with it, which has helped my mood. I can't wait to show you it.

As mentioned on Wednesday, I do have a FO to share. It's my Herbivore by Stephen West, knit out of Tosh Sock in colorway Spectrum.

I started this last May, and decided to pick it up and finish it. I'm so glad I did. It blocked beautifully and I adore the shape. I took it to the movies with me last weekend, as I was wearing a tank top. It was hot outside, but I knew that the movies would be super cold. I was so glad I did. It draped perfectly across my back and the "wings" of the shawl wrapped over my arms and kept me warm. The shawl hugs perfectly, and isn't a shape that falls off the shoulders all the time.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you next week.

Work in Progress Wednesday 186

Hi everyone! Sorry I forgot once again to post Friday. I actually remembered because I was trying to finish my shawl, and then once I didn't finish in time, I forgot to post anyway. Oops! I'm here now for Wednesday though, and that should count for something! ;)

I didn't take a picture of my Sock Yarn Blanket, but I have made progress on it. I just don't want you to get tired of it, and really it doesn't change too much, even when adding squares here and there. I did do a count though, and I have knit a total of 49 squares. Each square is a different yarn (sometimes the same company/base but different color, for example, I have several Candy Skein Yummy fingering and Savory fingering). I've used a total of 11 different yarns. Pretty cool, right? Hopefully I'll have made enough progress next week to warrant a picture.

I have however, started a new project! While at Stitches West a few weeks ago, two of my friends and I were lucky to get our hands on the last 3 skeins of the Sochi Pride colorway (though Oddities) by Cephalopod Yarns on the first day of the marketplace, thanks to our friend Elizabeth. Since they were Oddities of that colorway, each skein was pretty different. We thought it would be fun to knit the same project, using the same size needle and of course the same yarn. We decided to knit Jane Richmond's lovely pattern from her Island collection, Strathcona. This is a simple garter edged mesh scarf that's fun and going really fast. Our yarn is the Bugga! base, so has great drape for the project. I think this will be a perfect scarf for our weather here in San Diego. I highly recommend the yarn and pattern so far! I'll try and get a picture of all of the scarves together next Monday at knit night!

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a great rest of your week. I'm off to watch Frozen with my husband and sit down to a late dinner. I will definitely have a Friday post, as I have finished my Herbivore shawl!

Work in Progress 185

Hi everyone. I hope all is well! Sorry I forgot about FO Friday last week. I meant to post the Mister Linky despite not having a FO, but it slipped my mind. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Here's an update on my sock yarn blanket, with bonus cat butt. HA! She decided to lay down just as I put the blanket out to take the picture. As you can see on the left, I've started to add squares to the side. I'm going to be adding to the left side, but won't on the right yet, because I'm not 100% sure it's the width I like. Right now it's 13 squares wide. It's about the size of a one person lap blanket. I think a few more squares added to the width would be best, but right now I am focusing on just making it deeper. I am so in love with it so far! It's a great mindless project that I pick up when I don't feel like I want to commit to my knitting at the time.

I'm sure you don't remember this. I started this Herbivore shawl by Stephen West back in May of last year, and I bought the yarn, Tosh Sock in Spectrum, at Stitches West 2013. I decided to pick it up again this week and am close to finishing it soon. I took this picture Tuesday afternoon, and worked on it all Tuesday night. I've finished as far as the size based on the pattern, but since I have a bit of yarn left, I'm trying to squeeze out a little more. I can't wait to see this off the needles.

That's it for me. I hope you have a great rest of the week. I hope to have my shawl done for Friday! See you then.

Work in Progress Wednesday 184

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week. This is going to be short and sweet because I've been very busy working and am very tired.

As you may remember, last week I started my Owls sweater by Kate Davies. I've finished the body and only need to do a sleeve and a half and the yoke/collar! I can't believe how fast this is knitting up.

As you can see, this is just a blurry photo of the sleeve that I took quickly. I'm using Neighborhood Fiber Company Studio Chunky in Edgewood  that I bought at Stitches!

That's it for me this week. I hope you have a great rest of it and I'll see you Friday!
